Aldershot Wednesday League Army Football Silver Medal 1897 1898

A genuine old silver medal.

Hallmarked silver.

3.5cm across Hallmarked Silver Medal which has a date to the front of 1895 which seems to have been used a couple of years later for Football.

The medal has hallmarks Lion, n and Anchor and the makers initials TR which would be Thomas Restall whose name also appears to the inside lid of the presentation case.

A note stuck down to the base of the case states Aldershot League 1897-98 and also Wednesday which may link this to a Military Football League as often games were held on a Wednesday.

The medal weighs around 8gms which includes the loop at the top which I do not think is Silver.

The case has some general wear in line with age etc, the medal has some tarnish but is in otherwise good condition and overall an interesting antique medal for any Football or Military collection.
